About Me

My name is Camille and I am the mother of two (soon to be three) spirited children and wife to one amazing man. My passion for midwifery, homebirth, natural childbirth, and natural parenting began after the birth of my son in 2004. I was like most first time moms, young and a little naive, and knew absolutely nothing. After his birth I began to suffer  PPD and doubted everything about myself as a mother and person in general. When he was 10 months old, I discovered what a midwife was when I picked up a copy of Spiritual Midwifery from the public library. Needless to say the dominos began to fall from there. I dove into my education of everything and anything related to midwifery and eventually came to meet a fabulous midwife who supported me during the incredible and life changing homebirth of my daughter in 2007. I decided to become a Nurse's Assisstant in order to acquire valuable skills as I embarked in my journey as an apprentice midwife. My role at each birth naturally took place as labor support for the mom and a little while later I was told that I was the "doula" in the group. I hadn't realized what a doula was until I realized that  is what I was doing.
I still have not lost the passion for midwifery education but I have come to the conclusion that becoming a midwife while I have very young children is just not compatible with the way I want to be a mother. I am am content to walk a long and spiritual path towards becoming a midwife later when I am called.
In the mean time, I am now finishing up my education towards becoming a Registered Nurse and intend to use my skills towards supporting women and educating families in a more private and personal setting;  a way the current maternity care system is unable to do. In other words, I don't see myself working for a private instititution, I see myself serving individual families and supporting each woman on her  journey to motherhood.
